Acceptance of ALMA Cycle 2 software

The software required for ALMA Cycle 2 observations was accepted on May 30, paving the way for the start of ALMA Cycle 2 observations in early June 2014. The software includes many significant improvements, including polarization capability, multi-resolution correlator modes, and higher precision ephemeris tracking. Unfortunately, the software for the Total Power (TP) observing mode was not accepted. Therefore, PIs of Cycle 1 ACA projects that transfer to Cycle 2 will be asked whether TP Component of the observations can be dropped without significantly affecting their science goals. If so, these components will be descoped so that the project can be completed earlier. All remaining TP observations (including Cycle 2 TP components) will be delayed until the TP Array software is accepted.
